Orientation for Interns Placed With Parliamentarians

A two day orientation programme for the third batch of Interns hired under Prime Minister(s) Youth Training Scheme - National Internship Programme commenced at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services. The session aimed to enlighten the new Interns on Constitution of Pakistan, How does Parliament work, Parliamentary etiquette & mannerism, Essential IT skills, Writing Parliamentary brief, Letter writing & Time & task management. A total of 340 Interns have been hired under the programme. The newly hired interns would be attached with the Parliamentarians in their respective constituencies. They will assist the parliamentarians in the research work & the legislative business. The inaugural session was addressed by Director General (NIP) Ms. Azra Jamali who delivered the welcome remarks & shed light on the importance of this Internship. PIPS Director Research Mr Muhammad Rashid Mafzool Zaka, Addl Secretary Senate Mr Muhammad Anwer Khan and Mr Waqas Querishi conducted sessions on Constitution and Parliament; Non Legislative Business and Time Management respectively. Honorable Members National Assembly Leila Khan, Shaza Fatima Khawaja & Shahista Pervaiz also addressed the new batch and highlighted the expectations from the Interns & the future prospects this Internship will add for them. Furthermore they deliberated on the working of Parliament. It is the second batch of this Internship programme, which also attended sessions by Ms Samer Awais, Dir Training PIPS (Competencies) Ms Tehseen Khalid SRO, PIPS on Preparation of Briefs and Mr Shamoon Hasmhi JS (NA) on parliamentary protocols.
